An Update

I'm watching New Moon tomorrow! How exciting is that? Haha, well, it's exciting for me!

I'm also hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and I'm itching to get Book No. 9! But... I don't wanna spend so much on a hardcover that would be inconvenient to lug around in my bag. SOOOO, I guess I will have to be patient and wait till next April to get the paperback, maybe... That's soooooo longggggg...

Last but not least, I want these 2 palettes from NARS!!! How pretty are they!?

Twitter is my new blog. It's so much easier with short, random sentences that I can do from my phone.

"So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them."

Change

This was in my first post when i started this blog 4 years ago. Time flies.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare. Or maybe Sting. But at the moment, it's the sentence that best explains my tragic flaw: my inability to change. I don't think I'm alone in this. The more I get to know other people, the more I realize it's kind of everyone's flaw. Staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly still... It feels better somehow. And if you are suffering, at least the pain is familiar. Because if you took that leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected... Who knows what other pain might be waiting out there. Chances are it could be even worse. So you maintain the status quo. Choose the road already traveled and it doesn't seem that bad. Not as far as flaws go. You're not a drug addict. You're not killing anyone... Except maybe yourself a little. When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're like this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked at us really, really close. Which, thank God, they never do. But you notice it. Inside you that change feels like a world of difference. And you hope this is it. This is the person you get to be forever... That you'll never have to change again.- Everwood, Ephram Brown

Mascara

image from esteelauder.com

This was the first mascara I ever used, the Estee Lauder MagnaScopic. I had it in the sample size as a free gift from some magazine and I subsequently got it in the full size. Honestly, it didn't do anything for my lashes. I threw it out eventually.

My second mascara was from Shu Uemura, the "mascara length and waterproof". It had the tiniest brush ever and I loved it! Unfortunately, I found that the mascara dried up very fast. I can't seem to find a picture of it and it seems to have been discontinued. Oh well...

The famous DiorShow which has a cult following as well as a huge brush! I got it in waterproof. It was good while it lasted but the big brush was getting mascara everywhere besides the lashes. I eventually gave up and went on to my next mascara.

My HG mascara! This is the Chanel Inimitable in waterproof. The brush is the right size, at least for me, and it curls, lengthens and volumizes. I'm in love with it. But I'll have to admit, the volumizing is not the greatest but it's OK.

The Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen in waterproof. It really does volumize my lashes and it hardly clumps but somehow I have a problem with getting product onto my lashes. I apply it in a "special" way. I probably wouldn't buy this again.

The Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Neo, a volumizing mascara with a comb as a brush which should seem easier to use but can be a little tricky. I honestly don't remember how it was like as I had only used it once or twice? I had a lot of other mascaras then and I gave this away to a friend.

The Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Neo, this is the lengthening version. I think they have a newer version out in stores. This thing really does lengthen your lashes but maybe not to the extent that it claims. An ok mascara.

The new DiorShow Iconic, I bought it because the MUA tried it out on my friend and it looked amazing. Unfortunately, it does not have that same effect on me and again, the brush is too big for my eyes! Furthermore, it's not waterproof and non-waterproof mascaras doesn't seem to work that well with my lashes. I know they have the waterproof version now but I doubt I'll be getting that. I'll give it a try again.

Rimmel London's Glam'Eyes mascara, which I unfortunately got in the non-waterproof version because I didn't look carefully. It's supposed to be a volumizing mascara but honestly, I find it to be more lengthening than volumizing. The brush is the right size, longer than my usual brush wand and it's flexible, which I can't decide if it's a good or bad thing. It lengthens but does not hold my curl. Probably won't repurchase, not even the waterproof one.

The Shiseido mascara base, this has got to be the best mascara base ever. It holds your curl like nothing and it lasts. My lashes still look the same at the end of the day with this beneath which ever mascara I have on. Get This!

Another primer from Shiseido but from the Maquillage line, this is good but not as good as the above in my opinion. This comes out white while the above comes out grey though it says it is supposed to be clear. The wand of this is curved and smaller than the mascara base.

That pretty much is all the mascaras I've tried before. Oh, I did buy this ZA mascara before but I couldn't get any product on the brush or my lashes, I threw it away! The next mascara I really want to get my hands on is the Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash!!!

M.A.C

So I've heard and read negative comments on the attitude of some make-up artists at M.A.C counters in Singapore. Some people prefer certain counters over others but honestly and personally, I've been to all the M.A.C counters in Singapore and I haven't met a single MUA that was rude or ignored me. Basically, all of them were really quite friendly and helpful. So I guess I'm lucky?
